HOW DOES IT WORK?
The laser emits an invisible light composed of a single wavelength that is attracted by the hair’s melanin. The laser targets pigments located in the hair follicle. Once absorbed by the hair root, this light is converted to heat and will destroy the hair bulb. Without a bulb there is no more hair.
WHO IS IT ADRESSED TO?
There are different types of laser.
The most used is Alexandrite laser, it is particularly effective on very fair skin with dark brown or black hair. But not as people may think, a person with darker skin may also have this hair removal. There are devices that use different wavelengths and are suitable for those skin types.
YAG LP laser and also new diode lasers enable sustainable hair removal for dark skins. However, these lasers will not work on white hair, blond or red since they contain no or little melanin.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Laser needs the melanin in the hair root to work; one must not remove the hair for the month before the first meeting and throughout the duration of treatment. No wax or epilator. For the same reasons, one must not bleach the hair. However, 3 to 7 days before each session, the patient must shave her hair. The treatment is more effective on hair regrowth phase. Laser can be more or less painful according to one’s sensitivity, if you are sensitive, we may apply an anesthetic cream prescribed by the doctor an hour before the session. Once in the dermatologist’s office, moles and tattoos must be protected and hidden and special glasses must be born to protect the eyes. The doctor then moves the laser on the area to be depilated and you may feel little tingling. Once the process is complete, the skin is slightly red. Then a few days later, hair will begin to fall gradually.
