Hyaluronic acid is a filler used against sagging skin associated with aging of tissues. This product is currently the most widely used against wrinkles because of its safety, durability and lack of allergic reactions.
Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the skin, it is a natural component that provides dermal hydration because with time natural acid in the skin decreases, dermis becomes dehydrated and wrinkles appear. The injected hyaluronic acid is naturally mixed with the existing one giving a better volume to the skin and providing a strong hydration.
This substance is in the form of transparent cross-linked gel (hyaluronic molecules form a dense and tangled acid), which is suitable for filling wrinkles and corners of the mouth.
The more a hyaluronic acid is reticulated the more it’s thick and viscous and then used for deep wrinkles, while if it is not very thick it will be used for fine and less deep wrinkles as for lips.
Who is it addressed to ?
Hyaluronic acid treats the following areas:
- Upper face: forehead wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet
- Lower face: nasolabial folds (lines that connect the nostril to the corner of the mouth), bitterness lines (those who connect the corners of the mouth to the chin), vertical lines of the cheeks, lips lacking volume and corners of the lips (lips streaked with wrinkles).
A hyaluronic acid injection session can last between 30 and 40 minutes depending on the number of areas to be treated.
Presented in the form of gel filled syringe with a very fine needle, hyaluronic acid will be injected into the skin to plump fine lines and wrinkles in order to restore the smoothness of the face. Once the areas to be treated are defined, hyaluronic acid is injected along the length of wrinkles; the needle is gradually introduced and withdrawn in the same way to the entry point. The injected part is massaged so that the product is distributed evenly.
Injections are not painful, however for sensitive people we apply a numbing cream that will make the process easier. No anesthesia is needed, in case of lips’ remodeling local anesthesia as at the dentist may be given.
Following the treatment
The first 4 hours after the injections, the patient should avoid talking too much or raising her face. Redness and slight swelling may occur but will disappear rapidly between 24 and 48 hours. The injected areas may feel hard to touch for a few days while the product is put in place. Results are immediately visible.
